2015 has been nothing short of booming for the burgeoning entrepreneurial ecosystem here at UCLA. To celebrate some of these exciting accomplishments, we thought it would be great to catch up with the six Bruin-led companies that VC Fund invested in this past year.
GoGuardian is a digital security startup that provides a wide range of monitoring, filtering, and anti-theft services for schools and school districts using Chromebooks. In October, CEO & Co-Founder Aza Steel (above) presented at our #UBERatUCLA jam pad event for alumni entrepreneurs.
Led by a team from DreamWorks Animation, Nimble Collective offers cloud-based animation tools and a content sharing platform. Last spring, the company was featured in VentureBeat for its expected launch in the first half of 2016. President and COO, Michael Howse (far left) is also an Executive Board Member of the VC Fund.
Water Planet is a UCLA faculty-led company which has created a new membrane for water purification. They are working to reduce water consumption by bringing cost-effective water re-use to industrial environments. CEO Eric Hoeck (pictured second from the left) represented Water Planet at the August Thinking LA event on the role of water technology in relation to the California drought.
BAM Exchange is a new generation of programmatic exchanges for retailers, currently in stealth mode (stay tuned for launch info soon!). Co-Founder Caroline Blavet received her MBA in 2014 from the UCLA Anderson School of Management.
On a related note, congratulations to our 2014 portfolio company, Neural Analytics, which just raised a $10M Series A, and to Outpost Games for their Series A led by Benchmark.
