If You Are an Entrepreneur…
  • Pledge shares of common stock worth $10,000 based on the last round of preferred stock
  • Transfer these shares to UCLA if and when a liquidity event (merger or IPO) occurs, at the then-current value
  • Receive a tax deduction based on the value on the date of transfer, subject to personal tax advice
Your gift does not require the consent of others as it will be subject to all existing vesting, right of first refusal, co-sale, and other restrictions.

If You Are a Venture Capitalist…
  • Pledge a portion of your carried interest in a particular portfolio investment, equal in value to the last round of preferred stock based on $10,000
  • Transfer these shares to UCLA if and when distribution occurs after partnership obligations are satisfied
  • Receive a tax deduction based on the value on the date of transfer, subject to personal tax advice
Your gift does not require the consent of others as it will be subject to all partnership restrictions.
The College & Athletics
The UCLA Venture Capital Fund is a joint venture between the College of Letters and Science and the Department of Athletics. Appropriately, shares transferred to UCLA through the UCLA Venture Capital Fund will be used to support outstanding students and faculty within the College of Letters and Science as well as stellar athletes within the Department of Athletics.
